Letter From Our President

Wow! It is actually raining today (June 24). Have had to water the garden almost every day for the last two weeks. It took two and a half hours to do it. The hot days and high winds really stressed wild plants, as well as garden plants. The coltsfoot fainted every hot day.

Field Day preparations have been made. We hope this wet weather will be done by June 26.

We still don't have the papers from Rocky Mountain. K1XI would certainly like to have them before he comes up. Mike Daigle, who was going to get them, has been off fighting fires in Quebec. When he returned, he said he would try to get up there, but I think he is gone again.

Happy Birthday
Radio is King: "Amateur radioers keep lines of communication open" appeared in the Daily Sound(Santa Barbara, CA.)"Before Facebook, Twitter and text messaging there was radio. And when a major disaster knocks out the power, cuts off access to the power and scrambles cell signals, radio is once again king."

Field Day

The tent has been reserved for us. The same one as the last field day, I believe. It is 20 feet by 40 feet. It has sides. UMFK has put our field day on their sign out front. N7GLR has informed WAGM. I sent an announcement to SJVT. Don't know yet if it was in this week's paper. The Port-A-Potty is reserved for us.

N1QMC has offered a pot of baked beans. KB1OWW says Karen is making cookies for us. N1FG will make a pasta salad. N1FRX will be buying the the food we decided upon.

HAPPY SUMMER TO ALL!

A Bit of Humor

" The children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying to persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture. 'Just think how nice it will be to look at it when you are all grown up and say, 'There's Jennifer, she's a lawyer,' or 'That's Michael, he's a doctor.' A small voice at the back of the room rang out, 'And there's the teacher, she's dead.'"
